JUWI Shizen Energy Operation launches 24/7 monitoring center

JUWI Shizen Energy Operation Inc. (JSEO) has opened a monitoring center in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, that will monitor renewable energy power plants 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The 147 MW (DC) Onikoube Solar Power Plant in Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, owned by PurpleSol G.K.  (PurpleSol) and which JSEO has been entrusted with operation and maintenance (O&M), will be the first site to be operated under this new monitoring center.

This monitoring center was established with the objective of building a system to proactively provide O&M services to the Japanese market, where an increasing number of companies are now aiming for decarbonized management. The monitoring center will be staffed by personnel specializing in power plant monitoring and will be able to respond immediately, including rushing to the scene, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in the event of abnormalities at the power plant. In addition, the monitoring system will be more precise than ever before, enabling the accumulation of knowledge on power plant monitoring.

With the opening of this monitoring center, JSEO began O&M of the 147 MWp solar power plant in Osaki City, which is one of the largest solar power plants in Japan, from April 10, 2023. The plant features a high interconnection voltage of 275 kV and is required by law to be monitored at all times. In addition, since the plant is located in an area with heavy snowfall, power generation losses will be prevented through constant monitoring of snowfall and swift response to snow removal in cooperation with local partners.

The company plans to use the knowledge gained from the operation of this monitoring center to expand its business in the future, including the provision of monitoring services for grid storage batteries.

As solar power plants continue to be constructed throughout Japan, JSEO will continue to contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society through the appropriate O&M of renewable energy power plants, the enhancement of value of renewable energy power plants, and coordination with the electric power system.
