  • ──What made you join jSEO?

I came across the Shizen Energy website when I was looking for a new job after retirement. I was drawn to the PURPOSE of the company “we take action for the blue planet” and wanted to work with people with the bright smiles on the website. I also like the blue uniforms, which are designed with the corporate color.

──What is your previous working experience?

I worked as an electrical engineer for a power company for about 40 years, and when I visited Germany about 20 years ago to research recycling technology for electric power materials, I saw solar panels installed on the roofs of housing complexes and factories, and large wind turbines at wind power plants spinning powerfully. I felt that someday I wanted to work in renewable energy myself.

    ──What is your job description?

I provide technical support and oversee safety measures, especially for extra high-voltage electricity solar power plants that are connected with power company transmission lines.

──What do you hope to accomplish at jSEO?

I want myself to grow with the company, and not rest on my past experience or knowledge.
I enjoy working with my colleagues (crew) who have diverse nationalities and experiences, and I really enjoy getting a lot of ideas and inspiration from them.

──What social problem do you think needs to be solved?

I feel that marine pollution caused by microplastics is a very serious problem.
I believe that marine pollution is quietly progressing without us realizing, and that measures are still insufficient.
I think it’s important for each one of us to try to reduce the use of plastic products and stop littering. I try to sort garbage properly and recycle.

    ──What made you join jSEO?

While I was unable to formulate a clear vision of what kind of work I wanted to do or what I wanted to accomplish, I came across the Shizen Energy Group’s philosophy of “change the world through energy.” I joined the company because I thought that I would never be able to do a job anywhere else where I could change the world while I was still alive and witness such a moment in my life.

──What is your previous working experience?

I joined a railroad company as a new graduate and was mainly in charge of designing transformer facilities for Shinkansen trains and formulating construction plans. Railroads support people’s daily lives, and while I found it very rewarding, one small mistake could have a huge effect on society, so I was able to learn and experience much more than just knowledge and skills.

    ──What is your job description?

As plant manager of a solar power plant, I manage the maintenance and operation of the plant, and work with local partner companies to maintain safe and stable power generation conditions. I find it rewarding to work with partners to generate as much electricity as possible at a power plant that was developed and constructed by crew members who share the same goal.

──What do you hope to accomplish at jSEO?

As a company, I would like it to become the industry leader. In this context, I want the company to create new values through renewable energy multiplied with something else. Personally, I would like to take on the challenge of developing next-generation transportation infrastructure by multiplying renewable energy with transportation, making use of my experience as a railroad engineer.

──What social problem do you think needs to be solved?

The negative atmosphere in the train during the morning rush hour. I would like to create a more peaceful and lively atmosphere in society, starting with my own surroundings.

──What makes jSEO an attractive company?

The best part is that I get to work with crews from diverse backgrounds. I also like that I am given freedom and discretion in a very good way.

    ──What made you join jSEO?

I felt a sense of discomfort with social problems that fade away over time and wanted to solve the social problems I had come to know, even if it was just one of them. Since the nuclear power plant accident, I have been interested in energy, and decided to join the company because I shared the same values as the founder’s. I have always been close to nature, such as mountain climbing with my family, so I wanted to work in development that preserves lush green landscapes, which also led to my decision to join the company.

    ──What is your job description?

As plant manager, I am responsible for organizing what is needed to safely operate a solar power plant. It makes me realize that electricity, that many times we take for granted, is a product of many small efforts combined.

──What do you hope to accomplish at jSEO?

I would like to create a state in which each region is self-reliant through renewable energy. When disasters occur in the future, I would like to see large-scale power outages prevented by renewable energy, and I would also like to see communities become economically independent through the jobs created by the renewable energy business. I want to create such a future.

──What social problem do you think needs to be solved?

    Capitalism pursuing only financial gain.

I believe that excessive convenience has a negative effect on many things, including environmental issues, inequality, and modern diseases. Although I cannot solve everything on my own, I believe that rethinking my own actions with a particular purpose in mind and communicating my thoughts to others is one step toward a solution.

──What makes jSEO an attractive company?

    Trusted colleagues!
And the fact that I can take on a variety of challenges if I raise my hand. I am attracted to the fact that even as a new graduate and first year (as of Feb 2022) at the company, I am given the freedom and responsibility to make decisions on my own.

  • ──What made you join jSEO?

I searched for a job looking for a highly diverse work environment and a business that could transform a legacy industry with technology. I was attracted to the diversity of nationalities, ages, and careers of the people working for the company, as well as the business of transforming a legacy industry such as the electric power industry, and decided to join the company. I studied ecotourism at university, and was also attracted to the corporate VALUE of “Enjoy the Planet.”

──What is your previous working experience?

I worked in sales of production equipment in Japan for 3 years, then lived in Singapore for 3 years, and Myanmar for 7 years. In Myanmar, I started and co-managed an engineering company with a local partner, but was unfortunately forced to return to Japan after the military coup in 2021. I hope to eventually expand the renewable energy industry and create jobs in developing countries such as Myanmar.

    ──What is your job description?

Medium-long term and single-year business plan preparation. Identification of management issues and implementation of solutions and business improvements. It is interesting to be able to go through the entire process from discovery to solution of the company’s issues, but at the same time nothing can be accomplished by myself or my department alone, so the challenge and the thrill of the project is to involve various people and to share the issues with them.

──What makes jSEO an attractive company?

The company is still small, with only about 30 employees, but it is expected to expand significantly over the next few years, and I feel that there will be many opportunities to improve my abilities as the business develops. Working from home and flexible hours are possible, and although autonomy is required, there is a lot of freedom in the workplace. The organization is flat and I feel it is a very nice working environment throughout.

    ──What made you join jSEO?

After graduating, I wanted to be involved in the environmental business and worked for a water treatment company. But after the earthquake of 2011, I became interested in the energy sector and began to think about changing jobs. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to speak with several companies, and among them, jSEO had the fastest response and was most sincere, which gave me a very good impression and made me decide to join the company.

──What is your previous working experience?

I worked for a water treatment engineering company as a new graduate and was assigned to sales. I have also been working in sales since I joined jSEO. I have been working as a salesperson for almost 20 years.

    ──What is your job description?

I am responsible for marketing operations such as creating customer lists and planning campaigns to acquire new customers, as well as overall sales operations such as estimating the amount of money for sales projects, preparing quotations, negotiating, and concluding contracts.

──What do you hope to accomplish at jSEO?

Our goal is to improve the structural integrity of solar power plants throughout Japan (e.g., to operate and maintain power plants so that they generate electricity to meet their potential, and to take measures to prevent landslides or flood damage from occurring due to installation of power plants). The industry as a whole must also improve its structural integrity and quality.

──What social problem do you think needs to be solved?

Energy shift with the spread of renewable energy.

I feel that we need to shift away from fossil fuels, which will eventually be depleted. With concerns of global warming, renewable energy has almost no carbon dioxide emissions and has less environmental impact.
In addition, I am also interested in issues such as improving the work-style in Japan and eliminating the disparity between generations.

──What makes jSEO an attractive company?

Our company responds to daily problems 365 days a year, and I like that kind of diligence.
Also, I like the fact that my colleagues (crew) are professionals of various fields, not just limited to electricity.
